Hello everybody! Here is a peanut pancake aka Mee Jian Kueh from sunny #Singapore ??. This peanut pancake is a popular traditional snack in Singapore which can also be found at our neighbor Malaysia. It’s different than the kind of pancake from western cuisine – these are inch-thick round pancake folded over ground roasted peanuts and sugar which gives it a delightful contrasting flavor (sweet and savory) and texture (crispy and doughy). It is then cut into pieces that you see above. You can also add red bean paste for an extra sweet kick if you wish. These reminded me of Martabak from Indonesia, just healthier with way less condensed milk and butter ?. It’s perfect for tea time and only cost 90 cents a piece! I got this from Frankie’s Peanut Pancake which I have been eye-ing since I saw the snaking queue in front of the tiny stall after lunch time. I’m super lucky these are sold just above my new office at @TradeGecko in Telok Ayer street! Speaking of Telok Ayer, I’m totally in love with this location! Telok Ayer is a heritage district in Singapore, it’s one of the earliest streets back in the 1800s. You can see traditional colorful shophouses which has been restored to preserve the original shops, lining up the street with contrasting skyscrapers in the background. It is located just one street away from Singapore Central Business District. Does anyone know where I can still tapao coffee in a plastic bag around this area? Let me know!
