Aplicar pintura sobre la piel es una tradición que a lo largo de la historia ha tenido diferentes usos y significados, los cuales van desde los ritos y tradiciones hasta lo lúdico.

Siguiendo esta última modalidad, Kay Pike ha desarrollado una técnica muy sofisticada para evocar a personajes de la cultura pop, dibujos animados e historietas. El resultado es sorpendente: a través de un gran manejo de los colores y de los matices le es posible  mostrar piezas creativas visuales con gran calidad.

Mera Bodypaint I streamed on http://www.twitch.tv/kaypikefashion, And I am planning on Streaming a bodypaint today so I hope to see you in the chat! My design is a mashup of Meras outfits, based on Brazilian comic artist Ivan Reis’s Aquaman and Mera artwork. <3 This is one of the strongest photoshoots I have ever done in my life, I used some lighting in the paint to specifically go with my Gels, to make her look surrounded by, or underwater. I’m really happy with this one. Like the print of her, the swimming one is my favourite photo to date. Mera is bonkers. Nutty as a squirrel. She has great love and kindness in her heart, but, She has had severe psychological torment over the years, is estranged wherever she goes. Dosent matter if she is beautiful, kind or talented, Mera just has a hard time fitting in. She deals with, even for a super, alot of horrible things. So yes Mera does not have the best mental health, but boy oh boy she is fantastic. With powers ranging from solidifying water to appearing to fly with her leaping, all the water bending and enhanced strength speed and dedication she is a tough cookie to deal with. She even becomes a red-lantern for a while, AND THATS GREAT she really has every excuse to be a red lantern. This is the Beautiful Dove (Dawn) I painted last time on http://www.twitch.tv/kaypikefashion and I am painting again tomorrow so please come give a Follow! Dove, From DC’s Hawk and Dove has sentimental value to me. Moose actually has all of the comics and is an avid fan. Dove was the brain, the intellectual, the peaceful hero. Hawk was the brawn, the chaos, the charge in and brawl character! I’m a extremely gentle person, that like to plan ahead so lady Dove here is defiantly the fitting one. The animation is of a cover art when she’s posing that “come and get me” little cheeky pose. I wish these characters were more popular! It was a strange and tragic story (poor Donald) with heartbreak and heroes, time travel and bizarre plot devices such as, Hawk and Dove could only transform when there was danger present for example. I took a series of photos for some photo compilations, I want to do some photo shop wizardry and get @lustredust to be my Hawk one day… Hawk was Dawn’s sister for a period of time, its weird. Dark Phoenix is who I painted last time on http://www.twitch.tv/kaypikefashion This insanely powerful very complex character was a joy to create in paint. I used a viscous amount of ambient orange lights and back-lighting of red. Light was affecting every paint choice 😀 It was a Challenge as always to to the extreme contrasts with the style. I last did it with Robin. The animation was fun too, We turned up the gel lamp and tied it into the blowing animation. Poison Ivy I painted on http://www.twitch.tv/kaypikefashion last time, and I am painting Again Tomorrow! I really like Pamela IRL. Ivy fights for the world itself, she is like Captain Planet… but a bit of a sociopath. 😀 Poison Ivy=planeteer haha.  I actually really prefer the New 52 Origin to the old one, its a little more twisted and human and convoluted. This is the Captain Planet Bodypaint I painted on http://www.twitch.tv/kaypikefashion Tuesday night! “We need a super hero for the Earth. Let’s call him Captain Planet” No other cartoon I watched as a child has had as much impact on my day-to-day adult life. This show respected it’s audience. It was a ridiculous cartoon, yes BUT it got a young persons mind thinking about more going on in the world, not just the TV in front of them. This show handles and delivered to kids way more mature topics then any got anywhere else. Disease, desolation of species, environmental impact, racism, cultural-ism, economic and political issues etc. We got SO much more out of this show then others presented to us.
